As I’m always telling my customers, the longer you leave the henna paste on, the darker the stain you will get. However after a certain amount of time the henna design will start to dry out and flake off by itself. Leaving the henna on until it flakes off will give a reasonably good henna stain, but if you’re after a really dark stain you need to leave it on for several hours.
This is why I now offer all my customers the choice of using a henna sealer spray which keeps the design on the skin for longer. This can be sprayed onto the design as it is drying. It’s made from sugar, lemon and essential oils which also help to darken the stain.
I tend not to use the spray when outside at festivals and events in the summer because I worry that the sweet spray may attract bees (maybe I’m just worrying too much! It’s never actually been a problem). It’s perfect for indoor use. Everyone who books an appointment with me will be offered to use my sealer spray on their design for no extra cost.
I’m also selling bottles of my henna sealer spray in my Etsy shop for £4. Here’s a link: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/177677326/henna-design-sealer-spray?ref=shop_home_active_1
